Qualifications

With several office locations across Canada, Canem Systems is currently looking for a VDC Coordinator to join it's growing team.

The Virtual Design and Construction “VDC” Coordinator provides support in project delivery throughout design and construction utilizing Building Information Modeling “BIM” tools. The successful candidate is responsible for creating and managing 3D fabrication models to be used for visualization, constructability analysis, building systems coordination and construction sequencing.

This position is based at our Canem branch office in Mississauga, Ontario.
What You Will Be Working On


General Responsibilities

  • Perform clash detection and identify constructability issues.

  • Manage priorities with minimal guidance and take on additional responsibilities.

  • Track issue resolution and coordination meetings, document required actions

  • Support in communicating VDC benefits and implementation.

  • Ensure model accuracy for project requirements that align with the BIM Execution Plan.

  • Develop Electrical and Mechanical fabrication models for prefabrication and site use.

  • Review and analyze and manage coordination models for spatial coordination and quality control.

  • Support proposal information teams.

  • Support Estimate and planning of VDC projects.

  • Assist in the Coordination with trade partners to ensure that company and project standards are achieved.

  • Assist in developing hardware/software standards and maintaining an element library.

  • Demo and trial new technologies that can enhance and grow our VDC deliverable.

Field Coordination

  • Ensure project team access to all information and updates.

  • Support tablet usage and VDC field implementation.

  • Address constructability issues for self-performed work.

  • Participate in site logistics using 3D model data.

  • Assist with fabrication drawings creation and management.

  • Attend on-site coordination meetings with the project team

  • Leverage multiple programs and technologies to support field operations and on-site efficiencies.

What We Are Looking For
  • 2-5 years’ experience working with VDC/BIM related software, primarily Revit (or equivalent).

  • Completed education from a recognized architectural, engineering or BIM program or have equivalent field experience.

  • Completion of Construction Management Certificate Program, Trade Certificate or equivalent is considered an asset.

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project/Primavera P6.

  • Ability to read and interpret contract specifications, drawings, and other construction documents.

  • Excellent project management, communication, and multi-tasking skills.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills and excellent listening skills.

  • Proven ability to work in a team and have a collaborative synergy.

  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals; ability to work in challenging, fast paced environment.

  • Working knowledge of construction practices, materials, means and methods.

  • A candidate that has both Mechanical and Electrical systems exposure would be preferred for this role.
