Position Overview

Reporting to the VDC Director, the Virtual Digital Coordinator (VDC Coordinator) will facilitate the implementation of Bird’s Digital Construction program on project sites. This includes providing BIM/VDC services for nuclear projects, ensuring compliance with industry-specific regulations and safety standards, and addressing the unique requirements of nuclear construction.

This role is based out of our office in Ajax, ON, with site visits as required.

What You Will Be Working On
  • Perform design coordination and assist in identifying constructability issues through clash detection of 3D models.
  • Collaborate with the site team to develop site logistics plans in a model environment and produce video or plan exports as needed.
  • Serve as “model administrator” for assigned projects.
  • Assist in training project staff and subcontractors on digital construction software and workflows.
  • Ensure model accuracy, including As-Built conditions.
  • Assist the Estimating department with quantity take-offs.
  • Complete 4D schedule visualization by linking 3D models to live schedules.
  • Prepare BIM Execution Plans with consultants and trade partners.
  • Lead coordination meetings with project teams.
  • Perform laser scanning activities and reporting.
  • Conduct drone photography and video flights on projects.
  • Track progress on site for Digital Construction tasks.
  • Set up and maintain collaboration platforms like Revizto, BIM360, and OpenSpace.
  • Support nuclear VDC initiatives by adapting workflows to meet safety, regulatory, and technical requirements.
What We Are Looking For
  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture.
  • Construction Management Certificate or equivalent is an asset.
  • At least 3 years’ experience with digital construction software, primarily Revit, Revizto, Fuzor, Assemble, Navisworks (or equivalents).
  • Construction management background, preferably with experience as a Digital Construction or BIM/VDC Coordinator in a design/build environment within the ICI sector.
  • Knowledge of construction processes and experience in nuclear construction projects is an asset.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite and basic understanding of MS Project/Primavera P6.
