About the Role

As an integral part of the payroll team, you will need to be someone who loves a fast-paced environment and can expertly manage multiple priorities. You will oversee payroll services for 30–40 clients, spanning industries and business sizes, and you will be required to work confidently across multiple payroll platforms (think Smartpayroll, Xero, iPayroll, and more). In addition, you will also be required to fulfil other compliance tasks, including GST return preparation and other bookkeeping functions.

This is a challenging yet rewarding role where no two days are the same, and your expertise will make a real difference.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Process complex payrolls with accuracy, ensuring compliance with New Zealand payroll legislation.
  2. Handle payroll and creditor payments, reconciliations, and detailed reporting for clients.
  3. Be the go-to advisor for payroll-related queries, offering tailored solutions and expert advice.
  4. Manage tax filings, KiwiSaver contributions, and statutory obligations.
  5. Continuously look for improvements in processes and implement those initiatives.
  6. Document procedures in line with best practice for all payroll clients.

About You

  1. Previous experience in accountancy practice or payroll processing bureau would be beneficial in growing our payroll services.
  2. In-depth understanding of NZ payroll legislation, tax obligations, and compliance requirements.
  3. Proficiency in multiple payroll systems, with the ability to troubleshoot and adapt quickly.
  4. A sharp eye for accuracy and the ability to juggle multiple tasks without missing a beat.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong client relationships.

You will be required to work a minimum of 25 hours per week over a 5 day working week, based in Hamilton’s CBD.
