Overview

The Radiology Tech Specialist in conjunction with other team members provides direct specialized care to patients in the Cardiac Cath Lab. This position operates and maintains specialized cardiac catheterization equipment for use in diagnosing and treating heart disease in the Cath Lab. This position assists vascular surgeons and cardiologists in procedures by scrubbing, monitoring, and circulation duties. Successful performance contributes to a holistic approach to the delivery of services, improved patient care, and a high level of satisfaction from patients and families.

Responsibilities

Provides direct patient care.

Performs various duties related to diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including scrubbing, monitoring and circulation duties.

Demonstrates the ability to meet the department work schedule.

Takes emergency call as scheduled.

Communicates effectively with other team members including physicians, nurse, cardiovascular technicians, clinical partners, unit secretaries, and effectively with patients and families.

Demonstrates self-development by keeping abreast of various trends in invasive vascular and cardiology and is proficient with new techniques.

Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations.

Integrates and demonstrates FOCUS Values and Expectations for personal and service excellence to guide professional behaviors, while adhering to the policies and procedures of UPH-DM.

Practice reflects knowledge of HIPAA, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.

Demonstrates the knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately.

The position requires on-call. Must be able to arrive within 30 minutes of call-in when on a call shift.

Must own a telecom device capable of receiving call-in page.


Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an approved Radiology Technologist Program

Certifications/License: Current Iowa License to Practice

ACLS (within 6 months of hire)

Experience: New Grads to Experienced Radiology Technologists
