As a key member of our mechanical services' team, you will perform a wide range of technical tasks related to the installation, assembly, inspection, maintenance, repair, testing, and optimization of industrial pumps, control valves, safety valves, and actuators. Work is carried out in our shop facility and directly on customer sites, including during planned outages and emergency interventions. You will also play a role in continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
What You Bring To The Table
Installation and Assembly
- Install and assemble industrial pumps, control valves, safety valves, and actuators following engineering drawings and manufacturer instructions.
- Perform laser shaft alignment, install mechanical seals, and set up piping connections and supports.
- Integrate valves and pumps into broader mechanical systems (piping, compressors, tanks).
- Collaborate with engineers and customer teams during commissioning to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
Inspection, Diagnostics, and Troubleshooting
- Inspect equipment for wear, corrosion, misalignment, leaks, vibration, or mechanical damage.
- Use tools such as ultrasonic testers, vibration analyzers, dial indicators, and infrared thermometers for diagnosis.
- Identify root causes of failure (seal leakage, cavitation, misalignment, actuator failure) and recommend corrective actions.
Maintenance and Repairs
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks (lubrication, seal replacement, filter cleaning, bolt torquing).
- Repair or replace defective parts in pumps, valves, and actuators.
- Conduct grinding, polishing, and lapping on sealing surfaces.
- Operate machine tools and welding equipment to fabricate or adapt custom parts as needed.
Testing and Calibration
- Conduct pressure, flow, and performance testing of equipment post-repair or installation.
- Calibrate control valves and actuators using tools such as ValveLink, and FlowScanner.
- Ensure proper function of safety valves within pressure relief setpoints using Lifting Assist Devices (LAD).
- Document test results and verify compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate service logs and repair documentation (parts used, test results, observations).
- Complete technical service reports with visual documentation for client records and audits.
- Log findings in internal systems and participate in root cause analysis (RCA) where needed.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Conduct job hazard assessments and apply mitigation controls.
- Follow all PPE protocols, including flame-resistant clothing, goggles, gloves, and face masks (subject to fit testing).
- Handle hazardous materials (chemicals, pressurized fluids) safely and dispose of contaminated materials properly.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Adhere to all corporate and site-specific HSE procedures.
Client Relations and Collaboration
- Act as a field representative of the company, building strong customer relationships.
- Offer guidance and basic training to client personnel on equipment operation and maintenance.
- Support junior technicians and apprentices in skill development and safety practices.
- Work in cross-functional teams with electricians, instrumentation techs, and engineers during complex troubleshooting or shutdowns.
- Provide technical feedback to improve work quality and customer satisfaction.
Essential Skills And Qualifications To Be Successful
- DEP in Industrial Mechanics, Electromechanics, or related trade.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with pump and valve systems.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical diagrams and technical documentation.
- Proficient in mechanical diagnostics, precision measurements, and basic machining/welding.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license (required); ASP Construction card, forklift or overhead crane certifications (assets).
- Good interpersonal and communication skills; Written and spoken French required, English would be considered an asset.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work extended hours or respond to urgent site calls.
WORK LOCATION: Bécancour, QC, frequent travel to customer sites
