Job summary

Norcada in Edmonton, Canada, is seeking a Mechanical and Assembly Engineer to support design, manufacturing and testing of new products for vacuum and ultra-high vacuum applications. The role involves mechanical design, prototyping, testing, and managing manufacturing of mechanical and electrical components across product lines.

The ideal candidate has post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering or related fields, 3+ years of experience, and the ability to work as an EIT or P.Eng in

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related fields (BSc, MSc, PhD).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in relevant fields; MSc/PhD may supplement.
• Eligible to work as an EIT or a P.Eng in Alberta.
• Experience with mechanical design, CAD, GD&T, and FEA for feasibility assessments.
• Experience with prototyping and 3D printing techniques.
• Hands-on skills with mechanics, tooling, and vacuum systems preferred.
• Experience with characterization tools (CMM, SEM, ZYGO, AFM, VASE) is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and manufacture devices and components for vacuum and ultra-high vacuum applications and microanalysis.
• Provide mechanical design and assembly support to various teams and product lines.
• Develop product testing processes for prototypes via Design of Experiment.
• Perform feasibility assessments and design checks using analytical tools 3D and FEA Modelling.
• Create products, manufacturing and assembly plans for small and medium size product families.
• Support product installations and customer support.
• Coordinate people, projects, and development activities in order to support our world-renowned delivery excellence.
