Vacancy: Trainee Surveyor / Site Engineer Canada (Toronto)
Overview
  • Job Title: Trainee Surveyor / Site Engineer
  • Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
  • Location: Tornonto (Main Office). Extensive travel required (85%).
    A large amount of travel is involved, often at short notice, with frequent overnight stays ranging from 1 to 4 nights away on a weekly basis and up to 6 weeks away when working abroad.
  • Salary: $70,000 CAD per annum starting salary.

Trainee Surveyor / Site Engineer required for global flooring specialists, providing services to the construction, materials handling, manufacturing, and distribution industries.

The Role

A fantastic opportunity has become available for a surveyor / site engineer to join an established and fast-growing international concrete / construction company who is willing to invest in you. CoGri Canada Inc. works in the Materials Handling Industry servicing clients installing automated systems. These systems require surveys and potentially remediation to very tight tolerances. Our surveying team will perform these surveys to the specification set by each system.

This unique position will provide the right candidate with an opportunity to develop their skills whilst traveling throughout Canada and the United States. Other areas of travel to include United Kingdom, Europe, Australia and Dubai.

The role will involve operating different types of testing equipment to determine the various attributes of the concrete. The most common of these include flatness, levelness, abrasion resistance, gloss, and slip resistance.

Once a survey has been performed the surveyor will generate reports to distribute to our customers. Each report will depict a summary of the survey and show our findings dependent upon the survey taken. The right candidate will also be required to keep up with expenses through an online expense app, mileage sheet, and updates on progression. Therefore, good communication skills are essential for this role.

When staying away overnight, all travel is scheduled and paid for by the company. A per diem allowance is also given to cover the cost of food when working away. A company credit card is provided for items that may be needed on site as well as travel expenses if needed.

Position Information

  • The candidate will ideally have some experience in construction.
  • An aptitude for math is essential.
  • The candidate must be computer literate with experience in using Microsoft Excel.
  • A current driver’s licence is required.
  • The candidate must hold or be able to obtain a current passport.
  • Experience with a total station is an advantage.
  • Good communication skills and team spirit approach.
  • Qualified applicants must be legally authorized for employment in Canada. Qualified applicants will not require employer-sponsored work authorization now or in the future for employment in Canada.
