Job summary

Jobtailor in Montreal is seeking a senior UX/UI leader to drive design excellence across web and ecommerce projects. You will bridge UI design and front-end implementation, champion accessibility, performance, and mobile-first experiences.

You will mentor a multidisciplinary team, govern design systems, and translate business objectives into digital strategies for Shopify, Adobe Commerce, and React.js, with a data-driven approach. Strong storytelling and stakeholder negotiation are essential.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of digital design experience, agency environment preferred.
• Proven experience in a creative or executive leadership role.
• Expert-level UI design skills.
• Hands-on front-end development with HTML/CSS/JavaScript and React.js.
• Advanced proficiency in Figma (prototyping, variables, auto layout).
• Proficiency in Shopify and Adobe Commerce.
• Strong knowledge of WCAG accessibility and responsive layouts.
• Ability to forecast workloads and manage budgets.

Responsibilities

• Lead the UX/UI design team and champion design excellence, quality of execution, accessibility, and technical feasibility.
• Bridge the gap between UI design and front-end implementation while respecting web performance, responsive layouts, and technical constraints.
• Implement a mobile-first approach for responsive websites, mobile applications, and omnichannel experiences.
• Use data and analyze complex datasets to guide design strategies and approaches.
• Oversee the creation and governance of design systems, component libraries, Figma Variables, and design tokens.
• Provide strategic leadership for web and e-commerce projects on Shopify, Adobe Commerce, and React.js.
• Ensure visual consistency, micro-interactions, motion design, and universal WCAG accessibility.
• Integrate AI advancements and emerging tools into workflows and creative direction.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of UX and UI designers.
• Oversee effort estimation, project allocation, capacity planning, and workload balancing.
• Track creative budgets, remove bottlenecks, and improve internal processes.
• Contribute to proposals and sales presentations to win strategic accounts.
• Lead strategic discussions with executive stakeholders and translate business objectives into digital strategies.
• Demonstrate the business impact of human-centered design, user research, and UI/UX strategies.

• Openness to using new AI tools and frameworks to prototype faster and accelerate production
