Job Type: Full-time position, 35 hours per week (fixed-term contract until March 31, 2026 with possibility of renewal), to start as soon as possible.

Location: Quebec or Ontario (remote)

Language: Proficiency in English, knowledge of French is an asset

Founded in 2013, Digital Moment (formerly Kids Code Jeunesse) is a Montreal-based charity and part of a global network of organizations working to mobilize communities to build a better future through digital literacy education. For over a decade, Digital Moment has been advancing digital literacy by focusing on creating impactful programs and experiences for educators, youth, and their communities on digital skills such as coding, cybersecurity, algorithms and data literacy, and artificial intelligence. Digital Moment is focused on equity and accessibility, particularly for underrepresented groups and encompasses four educational initiatives: Experience AI, Digital2030, Code Club, and the Social Innovation Lab.

About the role:

We are seeking a UX/Graphics Designer to develop creative assets that engage our audiences through various mediums and for multiple programmatic initiatives. As a UX/Graphics Designer at Digital Moment, you will produce digital, printed, video and web-based visual materials for educational purposes. You will also collaborate closely with team members and key stakeholders on the creation of online learning experiences, executing all visual design stages from concept to final hand-off to development. The ideal UX/Graphics Designer will be a natural visual communicator and storyteller with a passion for design, branding, illustration, and creative content, who believes in the importance of digital skills education. Reporting to the Director of Programs & Operations, the UX/Graphics designer works closely with Program Managers, Educational Developers, the Marketing and Communications team, and other internal and external stakeholders to achieve program goals.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead on visual and UX design for, primarily, our educational activities (75%)
  • Create a diverse range of visual materials, including digital, printed, video and web-based formats for educational purposes, promotion or outreach, brand awareness, and reporting;
  • Work closely with team members on the co-creation of online learning experiences for youth and educators by providing high-quality creative assets, user journeys, user flows, wireframes, and UI mock-ups for digital products;
  • Liaise and facilitate design work, media optimization, and integration onto our websites, including collaboration with external web development agency;
  • Consult on other internal initiatives requiring design assets;
  • Conduct user research to understand user needs, and behaviours, and translate these insights into compelling design solutions;
  • Stay up-to-date on best practices, design and web trends, and tools in modern UX design.

Support DM branding and communications (25%):

  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to support a consistent identity for the Digital Moment brand and its sub-brands;
  • Ensure all externally-facing documents or other visual materials are consistent and in-line with the brand;
  • Work with and build on existing brand, visual identity assets and guidelines.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience with designing for digital, web, social and print mediums;
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, most notably Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Or equivalent non-Adobe products;
  • Proficiency with Figma or other wireframing tools;
  • Proficiency working in HTML5, CSS3, some Javascript and Jquery;
  • Excellent knowledge of UX best practices, including mobile first and responsive design;
  • Ability to create wireframes and mockups, and specifications for a web developer;
  • Impeccable organization and time management skills;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, creative environment.

The ideal candidate would additionally have:

  • Experience with creating educational content for children and youth;
  • Experience with service design;
  • Experience with video editing software or video production;
  • Experience with Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and XD. Or non-Adobe equivalents;
  • Knowledge of accessible and inclusive design practices and standards;
  • Experience working in a distributed remote team environment;
  • Project management experience;
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/French) and experience with multilingual design.
