Our client in the public sector is looking to hire a Senior UX Designer to work on a contract basis in Toronto. The UX Designer’s responsibilities during this phase include understanding the problem space, long and short-term business goals, and user and business needs.

Senior User Experience Designer

User Experience Design 40%

• Extensive experience in applying UX design best practices to create solutions, with a strong understanding of mobile-first and responsive design principles.
• Ability to iterate designs efficiently and effectively.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in complex projects of varying sizes, ensuring alignment with plans, best practices, and incorporating user-centered design processes within agile (scrum) methodologies.
• Degree or diploma in graphic design; certifications in usability, human-computer interaction, or technical writing are a plus.
• Experience facilitating user research and usability testing, including accessibility compliance testing is a plus.

Relationship Management - 20%

• Proven communication and mediation skills with business teams and core project members to ensure project progress.
• Experience developing strategies to overcome resistance to change and supporting change management during all project stages.
• Ability to deliver a product with a balanced team (product owner, UX designers, developers) using Agile (SCRUM) methodologies.

Technical Skills - 30%

• Proficiency in UX software such as JustInMind, InVision, Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud, Axure, Figma, and Zeplin.
• Knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (React, Angular, NodeJS) is a plus.

Must Haves:

• Expertise in UX software (as listed above).
• Experience in facilitating user research and usability testing, producing outputs such as:
• User Interview Topic Maps
• User Interview Scripts
• User Interview Synthesis (collection, aggregation, analysis)
• User Research Findings Report
