Job summary

First National Financial LP in Toronto is seeking a UX Designer to design clear, efficient AI-enabled mortgage workflows. You will conduct user research, map journeys, create flows and prototypes using Figma, and collaborate with PMs, AI engineers, and QA to ensure trustworthy experiences.

You will evaluate usability, support UAT, and help scale a reusable design system across the product squad, with a focus on explainability, source evidence, and human-in-the-loop processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in UX/HCI or related discipline or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in UX, product or service design or user research for complex digital products.
• Portfolio showing user research, workflows, prototyping, usability testing, iteration.
• Advanced proficiency with Figma, design systems, IA, and engineering-ready docs.
• Experience with complex rules, data-rich interfaces, accessibility, and time pressure.
• Knowledge of AI-enabled experiences including explainability and trust.
• Strong facilitation, communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience in financial services or mortgage tech is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct user research with underwriters, brokers, and operations; translate findings into design opportunities.
• Map journeys, service blueprints, handoffs, pain points and simplify complex processes.
• Design flows, IA, wireframes, and production-ready specs using Figma and related tools.
• Make AI outputs clear by addressing evidence, explanations, actions, and human review paths.
• Collaborate with PM, SME, AI engineers and QA to deliver feasible, consistent solutions.
• Define usability metrics and iterate based on task completion, time on task and satisfaction.
• Support UAT, pilots, training, rollout and post-launch learning.
• Create reusable AI interaction patterns and design system guidance.
