Responsibilities:
Create effective, user-friendly, and visually appealing interfaces.
Design the overall functionality of the product to ensure a great user experience, iterating based on user testing.
Skills and Experience Requirements:
User-centered Content Design (30%)
- Experience designing content to meet user needs, simplifying complex, technical language and processes.
- Ability to discern and deliver the right information in the appropriate format.
- Robust experience in writing, editing, and publishing digital content.
- Experience using content management systems and content production processes.
- Ability to write in plain, clear language that is accessible and understandable.
- Expertise in content analysis, auditing, and copyediting to align with user needs and best practices.
- Possess a toolkit of methods and approaches for content design challenges at various development stages.
- Understanding of government accessibility requirements and designing content for assistive technologies like screen readers.
- Ability to use data, research, and evidence to review and improve content iteratively.
- Consistent application of content standards and style guidelines.
- Understanding of content lifecycle management and advocacy for it among stakeholders.
- Contribute to content strategies and policies, including creating content patterns or standards.
- Produce content concepts and prototypes through various methods, from sketches to clickable prototypes.
- Collaborate with UX and Service designers in research and product design activities.
- Practice ego-free design, open to feedback, and collaborative support.
- Utilize pragmatic, thoughtful design approaches aligned with organizational needs.
Communications (20%)
- Strong skills in preparing research documentation—reports, reviews, assessments.
- Clear and effective presentation of ideas and suggestions, maintaining high customer service standards.
- Ability to communicate content design concepts and prototypes clearly.
- Effective communication with technical and business experts to gather key information.
- High emotional intelligence to understand stakeholder interests and facilitate consensus.
- Strong mentoring and coaching abilities to convey content design concepts to team members and stakeholders.
Agile Product Development (15%)
- Experience working in an agile, sprint-based environment.
- Understanding of iterative product development cycles (Discovery, Agile, Beta, Live).
- Experience collaborating with multiple designers on complex projects.
- Ability to see design tasks as part of larger product development efforts and understand their impact.
- Adaptability and responsiveness to feedback on work and processes.
Experience (15%)
- Experience with medium-to-large product/service design projects.
- Experience designing content for complex organizational services and products.
- Leadership in strategy and execution of content design.
- Proficiency with Figma UI design software.
- Experience designing within a design system.
- Ability to create content adhering to organizational standards and styles.
- Preparation of documentation suitable for translation into multiple languages.
Must Haves:
- Experience with OPS design standards and enterprise systems, including CXP.
- Knowledge of iterative development cycles (Discovery, Agile, Beta, Live).
