Job Description:

This is a full-time position with duties to commence as soon as possible.

The Municipality of Souris-Glenwood is situated in a unique landscape carved by glaciers and honed into a prairie oasis by the glacial melt waters that have etched the route for the Souris River and Plum Creek, Souris-Glenwood offers an abundance of activities and attractions for the whole family. Easily found at the junction of Highways 2 and 250, just 50 kilometers southwest of the City of Brandon, an area rich in agricultural land and diversified industry. Under the direction of the Operations Manager and Utility Department Manager, this position is responsible for the operations of the Water Distribution and Wastewater Treatment systems within the Municipality of Souris-Glenwood.

Candidates with the following credentials and skills will be given precedence:
•Grade 12 or equivalent
•Certification in Level III Water Treatment, Level II Water Distribution, Level II Wastewater Collection and Level II Wastewater Treatment. Consideration may be given to applicants with partial certification who are willing to complete the necessary certifications
•Manitoba Driver’s License, minimum Class 5
•A high understanding of mechanical and technical functions of a water treatment plant
•Experience in the operation of an excavator and/or backhoe considered an asset
•Experience in construction, repair, and operation of water and sewer lines
•A willingness to undertake advance training in all areas of public works and utility functions
•Physically fit and mentally able to perform the required tasks
