Overview

The Bluestem Utilities team has an opportunity for an Utility Operator 2 . Operates water analysis and treatment equipment to ensure water treatment, distribution, and / or wastewater treatment is performed as per regulatory, environmental and safety standards. Location and Schedule

This position is located in Kamloops, British Columbia . Some travel required, including visits to working plants and construction sites. Hours of work may include weekends and on-call

What You'll Do

• Controls flow and processing of water / wastewater, residuals, and finished water / effluent, operating valves and gates either manually or by remote control
• Monitors gauges, meters and control panels and observes variations in operating conditions
• Collects samples and performs routine laboratory tests and analyses, interpreting test results to determine processing requirements
• Ensures plant records are accurate and up to date
• Starts and stops pumps, engines and generators to control and adjust flow and treatment processes
• Performs daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly sampling of all aspects of the wastewater utility systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Operates, inspects and services equipment in water and wastewater, including hydraulics, pumps, valves etc
• Performs related security, safety and administrative procedures involving chemical hazards, personal protective equipment, general health and safety procedures, and emergency preparedness
• Maintains emergency preparedness binders and field operating manuals
• Undertakes routine repairs to water distribution and wastewater treatment and collection systems
• Maintains shift logs, recoding meter and gauge readings
• Performs other related duties as required
