Qualifications

Job description

Reporting to the Foreman onsite, this position is responsible for leading a work crew to construct underground residential shallow utilities including: Precast Bases, Streetlights, Transformers, Conduit, Electrical-Cable, and Telecommunications.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES:
  • Ensure all construction is completed safely and in full accordance with plans & specifications
  • Responsible for production efficiencies in regards to schedule and quality of work
  • Assist with training newer labour personnel - actively mentor/cross-train
  • Ensure that work area is kept safe, while maintaining a clean site / area
  • Operate skid-steer, digger-derrick truck and backhoe equipment periodically
  • Administer company standards, policies, procedures and other regulatory requirements
  • Work closely and provide direction to other divisions and subtrades (hydrovac, directional-drilling, gas fuser, etc)
  • Participate / Lead daily Safety Tailboard Meetings and Hazard Assessments
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Minimum 2-years' experience in shallow utility construction
  • Leadership ability being able to direct and communicate with staff efficiently and respectfully
  • Knowledge of utility specifications and drawings: Fortis / Epcor / Telus / Rogers / ATCO
  • Strong team player with a positive attitude
  • Effective problem solver and communicator
  • Must have a valid Class-5 driver's license and vehicle to get to job sites
