Job summary

Kibbi Technologies Inc. in Canada (Chilliwack, BC) is hiring for a Utility I Labourer - Public Works (Full Time). The role supports the Public Works and Parks Operations departments by performing non-skilled labour tasks and assisting with utility operations.

Able to work five consecutive days, outdoors in varying weather, and follow safety practices. Requires Grade 12 or equivalent and a BC driver’s license. Salary is hourly and permanent full-time employment is offered.

Qualifications

• Must have Grade 12 education with a minimum of two years experience in the labourer force or an equivalent combination.
• Must possess a valid BC Driver's Licence.
• Ability to perform manual work outdoors and lift heavy objects.

Responsibilities

• Perform non-skilled labourer tasks such as cutting grass, flagging, loading equipment, repairing fences, cleaning streets, removing garbage, laying pipes, digging, and related duties under supervision.
• Assist with pipe laying, general labourer duties, and other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
• Identify and report safety hazards and maintain good working relationships with staff.

Details

Department: Public Works and Parks Operations. Duties: GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

The incumbent in this class assists management to achieve efficient operation of the Public Works and Parks Department and Utility Operations Department through reliable performance of Utility I Labourer duties observing and complying with municipal policies and practices.

Nature And Scope Of Work

The incumbent in this class will be required to perform all non and semi-skilled tasks associated with labourer duties; cutting grass, flagging, loading equipment, repairing fences, cleaning streets, removing garbage, using manual tools, laying pipes, digging, etc. The incumbent will perform other related tasks as assigned. Assignments are performed under general supervision and performance is subject to review, inspection and evaluation by the Supervisor III.

Working Conditions

The incumbent will work any five (5) consecutive days within the hours as prescribed in published shift schedules and on occasion work overtime as authorized. The incumbent must be of good health to work outdoors regardless of weather. The incumbent must wear safety equipment as appropriate to the performance of duties. The incumbent upon hiring will have union dues deducted from source in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

Education

• -Must have Grade 12 education with a minimum of two (2) years experience in the labourer force
• -OR - an equivalent combination

Skills

• -Must be in possession of a valid B.C. Driver's Licence;
