Job summary

Bouchier is seeking a skilled Utility Equipment Operator to join our Common Services division for roads and grounds projects in Alberta. You will operate rock trucks, excavators, loaders, dozers and graders with a focus on safety and efficiency.

We value a strong safety mindset, valid licenses, and the ability to work across multiple sites with 12-hour shifts. Overtime available and accommodations provided where applicable.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of heavy equipment experience.
  • Valid Class 1 or 3 Driver’s License.
  • Clean 5-year driver abstract within 30 days of starting.
  • CSO (Common Safety Orientation) certificate.
  • WHMIS 2015 certification.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
  • Must be willing to work in fluctuating climates.
  • Must be comfortable working near water.
  • Able to pass Drug and Alcohol test and Fit for Duty.
  • All applicants must be fluent in English.
  • All applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • TDG certification is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment (rock trucks, excavators, loaders, dozers, graders) safely for roads and grounds work.
  • Adhere to legislative requirements, company policies, and safety protocols.
  • Ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and security of all equipment with regular inspections.
  • Collaborate with team members to hit project goals and assist with laborer duties.
  • Communicate equipment issues or maintenance needs to minimize downtime.
  • Participate in safety initiatives and risk assessments.
  • Seek opportunities to improve operation techniques and efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Position Summary

Position: Utility Equipment Operator

Type: Project (4mos)

Location: CNRL Horizon, CNUL Albian, Suncor - All Sites, Kearl IOL

Schedule: 7 on/7 off, 12 hours per day (Shift dependent on site)

Role Summary

Bouchier is seeking a skilled Utility Equipment Operator to join our team for roads and grounds projects. As a key member of our Common Services division, you will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment including, but not limited to; rock trucks, excavators, loaders, dozers, and graders. The Common Services division supports on site Roads & Grounds Maintenance, Tailings, and has a Special Projects team as well. Your primary objective will be to execute tasks with precision, efficiency, and above all, safety.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Operate all assigned heavy equipment such as rock trucks, excavators, loaders, dozers, and graders in a safe and effective manner to support roads and grounds maintenance and projects.
  • Adhere to legislative requirements, company policies, and procedures regarding equipment operation, maintenance, and safety protocols.
  • Ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and security of all assigned equipment, conducting regular inspections and maintenance checks as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve project goals, demonstrating adaptability to perform laborer duties as needed.
  • Proactively communicate any equipment issues or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation.
  • Actively participate in safety initiatives, including Job Hazard Assessments, Field Level Risk Assessments, and safety meetings.
  • Embrace a culture of continuous improvement by seeking opportunities to enhance equipment operation techniques and efficiency.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor, General Foreman and Site Manager
Education & Experience
  • Job requirements are listed below:
    • 2-5 years Heavy Equipment experience
    • Valid Class 1 or 3 Driver’s License is required
    • Clean 5-year Driver Personal & Commercial Abstract obtained within 30 days of starting work is required
    • CSO (Common Safety Orientation) certificate is required
    • WHMIS 2015
    • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more
    • Safety conscious attitude
    • Must be willing to work in fluctuating climates (hot, cold, wet) and environmental conditions
    • Must be comfortable working in close proximity to water
    • Ability to pass a Drug and Alcohol test and Fit for Duty test
      • Applicants are required to be clean shaven for testing and beyond
    • All applicants must have the ability to speak, read and write fluently in English
    • All applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada
