Job summary

Alamos Gold Inc. is seeking a Utilities Equipment Operator for the Island Gold District, near Wawa, Ontario. The role supports open-pit operations with graders, excavators, dozers, and loaders, complying with safety standards and daily plan execution.

The position offers a 14 days on/14 days off rotation with 12-hour days. Camp accommodation and travel allowance are provided as needed, and the company values safety and teamwork in a zero-tolerance drug/alcohol workplace.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid Class G driver's licence is an asset.
• Minimum of three years of mobile-equipment operating experience.
• Experience operating grader, excavator, dozer, or front-end loader.
• Experience with drill-pattern cleanup, road maintenance, dump support, berm construction, drainage work, or similar mine-support activities.

About Island Gold District:

Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. Role Overview/Purpose

Reporting to the Mine Supervisor, the Utility Equipment Operator safely operates utility and support equipment throughout the open pit. The role supports production, drill and blast, road maintenance, dump management, and general mine services. Assigned equipment may include graders, excavators, dozers, and front-end loaders. The operator is responsible for completing work safely, protecting equipment, communicating effectively, and meeting shift priorities.

Primary Responsibilities

• Work safely and support the Magino safety culture by participating in daily and monthly safety meetings.
• Operate graders, excavators, dozers, front-end loaders, and other assigned utility equipment safely and efficiently.
• Complete drill-pattern cleanup and preparation while following drill and blast area controls, supervisor direction, and site procedures.
• Maintain haul roads and access roads by grading surfaces, clearing material, maintaining drainage, and supporting safe travel conditions.
• Support dump operations by pushing and placing material, maintaining dump areas, and following dumping plans and established safety controls.
• Use excavators, dozers, and loaders for ditching, berm maintenance, cleanup, material handling, stockpile management, and other mine-support activities.
• Coordinate work with the Mine Supervisor, Dispatch, equipment operators, and other departments to meet the daily mine plan.
• Communicate clearly and effectively using the two-way radio system.
• Complete field-level risk assessments before starting each task and whenever work conditions change.
• Perform pre-operation and post-operation inspections, complete equipment logbooks, and report defects or unsafe conditions promptly.
• Protect equipment integrity through proper operation, housekeeping, and timely reporting of maintenance concerns.
• Meet planned targets on a shift-by-shift basis and perform other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications And Experience

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• A valid Class G driver's licence is an asset.
• A minimum of three years of mobile-equipment operating experience, preferably in an open-pit mine.
• Demonstrated experience operating one or more of the following: grader, excavator, dozer, or front-end loader. Experience operating multiple equipment types is preferred.
• Experience with drill-pattern cleanup, road maintenance, dump support, berm construction, drainage work, or similar mine-support activities is an asset.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve safe, efficient, and productive results.
• Self-motivated, with strong time-management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate clearly.
• Ability to support and promote health and safety practices.

Working Conditions

• The role is located at the Island Gold District, approximately 88 kilometres northeast of Wawa, Ontario, Canada.
• The ideal candidate for the role will work a rotation of 14 days on and 14 days off (12-hour days).
• Although employees are assigned a work schedule, hours are not guaranteed and may vary based on company needs.
• Candidates must be able to maintain a high level of performance during extended shifts and work outdoors in changing weather and mine conditions.
• The Island Gold District promotes a drug- and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy for alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

Travel & Accommodation

• Company will provide camp accomodation and travel allowance as needed.

Pay Range $36.72-$62.51 per hour. The expected salary range for this role is intended to support transparency and informed decision making. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience and internal equity.
