We are conducting electric meter upgrades in the St. Albert, Red Deer, Calgary, and Lethbridge, AB areas for Fortis Alberta, and are hiring Full-Time Electric Meter Installers! Applicants need to be at least 18 years of age, hold a valid driver’s license, and have a clean criminal and driving record. NO EXPERIENCE is required with paid training! If you consider yourself an independent worker and enjoy being outside, this job is for you!

Project will start in October 2025. Some positions will be expected to run for about 3-4 years, while some will be temporary from October to the end of December 2025.

All of our field staff are provided with:

• Safety gear including company boots (allowance), vests, glasses, etc.
• Company vehicle
• Paid training at $31.35/hour, up to a total of $250.80 for a full day
• Transition to piece rate once training is successfully completed, unlocking your earning potential!

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for installing single-phase electric meters by replacing existing meters (change-out). The new meter and meter module are installed to automate the process of reading a meter for accurate consumption and billing.

Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license
• Must pass pre-employment screenings: background check and driving record
• Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (potential to work Saturdays)
• Must be able to walk 5-10 km per day
• Must complete a Readme test at 100%

Working Conditions and Hours:

• Outdoor work environment
• Little supervision, allowing independence in managing your day

Knowledge and Abilities:

• Successfully complete the company’s training program and pass applicable written and field tests
• Learn and apply safety measures related to motor vehicle operation and other field-related matters
