Are you an experienced Utilities Manager with over 8 years of expertise in dry and wet utility construction? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! In this role, you will report directly to the Construction Manager and lead a team of professionals. Your primary responsibilities will include overseeing utility relocation, identifying deficiencies, ensuring project safety, and managing stakeholder relationships. Join us and be a vital part of a groundbreaking rail infrastructure project located in Bowmanville, Ontario.
You will be required to work out of the downtown Toronto office and transition to the site office in Durham region by mid-2025.
Essential Responsibilities
- Manage temporary and permanent utility relocation [both wet and dry utilities], utility scope definition, risk, budget, and execution.
- Manage project progress, analyze current and future work activities.
- Coordinate interface works for utility relocation and stakeholder management across various project aspects.
- Ensure project safety by monitoring and enforcing compliance with policies, procedures, and initiating necessary improvements and preventative measures to mitigate risks.
- Integrate corporate requirements, such as technical design, environmental assessments, and community commitments, into project plans; anticipate and address conflicts or delays arising from this integration.
- Foster strong relationships with external consultants, contractors, and vendors to uphold contractual obligations; conduct frequent site meetings to track progress and resolve any emerging issues.
- Ensure project adherence to railway operating rules and regulations.
Qualifications
- 8-10+ years of utility construction experience as a Superintendent, Project Manager or in a similar role.
- Completion of post secondary education in civil engineering or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with third party utility companies and providing design recommendations is required.
- Experience working on Design-Build or Collaborative Contract models is an asset.
- Experience working for a general contractor in Canada.
- Excellent contract management, project management, planning and scheduling skills.
- Facilitation and mentoring skills; is able to move the team forward and resolve conflict situations as they arise.
- Capability to effectively communicate and cooperate with project stakeholders, understanding their requirements and identifying solutions.
Working Conditions
- Site & Office based position. You will be required to work out of the downtown Toronto head office from Monday to Friday until project is in construction phase, mid-2025. Once on site, you will be required to work full-time on site in the Durham Region.
- Occasional travel to downtown Toronto office will be required for the duration of the project.
