Talnt is seeking an experienced US Tax Manager to join its growing public accounting and advisory team in Toronto. The role focuses on US federal income tax, cross-border taxation, and international tax reporting, with client advisory responsibilities across complex engagements.

Key duties include preparing and reviewing Form 1040/1040NR returns, guiding junior staff, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver compliant tax strategies and proactive service for clients with US tax

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 to 6 years of progressive US tax compliance experience in a public accounting or professional services environment.
  • US CPA, Enrolled Agent (EA), or active pursuit of one of these designations preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of US federal income tax laws, international tax reporting, cross border taxation, and foreign information reporting requirements.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing complex US individual tax returns and international tax forms.
  • Excellent tax research, analytical thinking, and problem solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly.
  • Proven leadership experience mentoring, coaching, or supervising junior accounting or tax professionals.
  • Proficiency with tax preparation software, Microsoft Office applications, and accounting technology platforms.

  • Prepare and review international information reporting forms, including FinCEN Form 114 (FBAR) and Form 5471/8865 as applicable.
  • Research and analyze complex US tax issues involving residency, sourcing, foreign tax credits, and tax treaties.
  • Manage multiple tax engagements simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and ongoing coaching to junior tax professionals.
  • Collaborate with cross functional professionals to develop tax strategies and client service.
  • Identify planning opportunities and practical solutions to improve compliance and minimize tax risk.
  • Maintain current knowledge of changes in US tax legislation, IRS regulations, and international reporting.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive service and communication.
  • Contribute to process improvements, workflow optimization, and best practices.

About the Role:
