The location in Montreal, (Quebec, Canada), is seeking talent to fill the position of US Tax Analyst. This job is full-time permanent.

The US Tax Analyst is responsible for the following tasks:

Assist with the preparation and review of income tax compliance for US federal and states, including estimated payments, extensions, tax returns, tax provisions, and cash tax forecasts. Support fixed asset process for tax books. Address tax notices and other correspondence.

Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Income Tax Compliance – Assist with the preparation of federal and state income tax returns, estimates and extensions. Prepare US tax filings for controlled foreign corporations (CFC’s). Work with business units to gather state tax apportionment data. Perform federal and state tax research on technical issues as needed. Support federal and state income tax audits as required. Support the Sr. US Tax Manager with projects as requested.
  • Tax Accounting – Support the preparation of the US annual tax provisions. Reconcile and analyze tax accounts. Reconcile federal and state income taxes payable by filing unit.
  • Tax Depreciation – Record and track fixed assets for tax depreciation, state tax depreciation adjustments, tax gain/loss calculations, and E&P depreciation. Provide support for deferred taxes associated with fixed assets.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrates successfully working independently and as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrates organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrates excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to work proficiently in a hybrid work environment.

Required Professional Experiences and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • 3-5 years of corporate or public accounting tax experience with a focus on corporate tax compliance.
  • Knowledge of the US Tax Code and application of the Code in a corporate setting.
  • High level of demonstrated technical proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Experience utilizing tax technology for the compliance process.

Preferred Professional Experiences and Qualifications (those are considered as assets):

  • CPA certification.
  • Master’s Degree in Accounting or Taxation.
  • Proficiency with using OneSource Tax Provision and OneSource Income Tax applications.
  • Experience using Longview Financial Reporting and SAP.
  • Bilingual, both oral and written, in French and English is a strong asset.
