The opportunity

As a U.S. Tax Manager, you will join an experienced team providing corporate and partnership tax compliance, tax provisioning, organizational structuring, and tax planning services to clients in various industries. You'll also have opportunities for on-call advisory work.

Your key responsibilities

Managers in our U.S. Tax practice oversee multiple challenging engagements, delivering high-quality compliance services and innovative tax planning ideas.

Core elements of the role include
  • Understanding U.S. tax concepts related to corporate federal and state income tax compliance and provision review.
  • Leading preparation and review of U.S. corporate and partnership tax returns and income tax provisions for public and private companies.
  • Conducting federal and state tax research, analyzing cross-border issues, and drafting technical memos.
  • Developing and delivering innovative tax planning ideas that meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Analyzing clients’ tax situations to develop practical and creative solutions.
  • Leading tax recommendation development and implementation.
  • Making informed decisions in complex, judgmental areas.
  • Establishing and maintaining long-term client relationships.
  • Sharing knowledge to develop professionally and improve service delivery.
  • Identifying opportunities for tax planning and other services.
  • Using technology to maximize productivity.
  • Participating in EY national initiatives.
  • Communicating effectively and supervising team members.
  • Participating in recruiting efforts.
  • Contributing to a flexible, team-oriented, and professional culture that fosters growth.
To qualify for the role, you must have
  • An undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Law, or a related field with at least 5 years of U.S. Tax experience.
  • A U.S. CPA, membership in a state bar, or IRS Enrolled Agent status.
  • Experience with tax compliance and accounting for corporate income tax, and a broad understanding of U.S. federal, state, and local taxes.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and mentoring junior staff.
  • Strong software skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with tax software and research tools like GoSystems, OneSource, CCH, and Checkpoint.
  • Ability to analyze complex data with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and manage client relationships effectively.
  • Experience with REIT taxation and partnership allocations in private equity or real estate is a plus.
Ideally, you’ll also have
  • Experience with real estate or private equity taxation.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • High motivation, maturity, and a proactive, team-based approach.
