Current Requirements:
The Division of Urology, Department of Surgery at Kelowna General Hospital is accepting applications for a full-time urologist position. Applicants must hold an MD degree and be eligible for registration and licensure to practice medicine in British Columbia, have specialty training in urology, and be a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (Urology). The successful candidate will also have completed a specialized fellowship in urology.
Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) is one of two tertiary hospitals within Interior Health and is the region’s main referral center offering a full range of services with approximately 440 beds and over 84,000 ED visits yearly. KGH features 12 specialized Operating Rooms created for various surgical specialties.
Kelowna is home to glistening waters and lush mountains, offering a vibrant lifestyle. Okanagan Lake provides opportunities for sailing, kayaking, and beach relaxation. The area boasts world-class golfing, spectacular hiking and biking trails, and ski resorts in winter.
The successful candidate will be expected to share resources (i.e. operative time, cystoscopy, and ambulatory care) and responsibilities (i.e. 1 in 4 call coverage for Kelowna and surrounding area, administration of educational programs and relevant department committees) with 3 other urologists with sub-specialty training in endourology, uro-oncology, and reconstructive urology. Subspecialty training in pediatrics and/or infertility would be advantageous but not required. Qualified candidates would be eligible for Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC), have CMPA coverage, and be licensed with the College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC). Compensation is fee for service.
The anticipated start date for the position is July 1, 2023, or upon a date to be mutually agreed.
