Job description

Reporting to the Superintendent, the Foreman oversees the installation and maintenance of shallow underground utilities (electrical, gas, telecommunication, street lighting) for Fortis and Enmax projects. The Foreman is accountable for ensuring all tasks onsite are carried out in a safe and responsible manner to support our residential, commercial, and multifamily projects.

How You’ll Add Value
  1. Actively contribute to the safety culture, promoting a safe and productive work environment
  2. Conduct daily safety and environmental inspections, enforce OH&S regulations, and respond to emergencies to ensure a safe, compliant, and efficient work environment
  3. Lead, mentor, and hold the team accountable, fostering a positive work environment, promoting collaboration, and driving high performance
  4. Manage and coordinate crew members, subcontractors, and equipment to optimize workflow, prevent disruptions, and ensure project efficiency
  5. Plan, schedule, and communicate work tasks effectively to maximize productivity and ensure quality standards (QA/QC) are met
  6. Provide recognition, feedback, and development opportunities to enhance employee engagement and growth
  7. Oversee PPE usage, training, and equipment operation to minimize safety risks and maintain operational standards
  8. Ensure timely material delivery, verify inventory, and prevent shortages to maintain continuous project progress
  9. Ensure compliance with contract specifications, labor laws, and company policies while reviewing and completing required documentation
  10. Perform in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:
Qualifications & Experience
  1. 5+ years of experience in shallow utility construction with 2+ years of experience in a foreman position
  2. Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a Driver’s Abstract showing no more than 6 demerits and no major infractions
  3. Willing to travel and work out of town for short, fixed-term periods, as needed
