Job summary

City of Edmonton is seeking a Labourer II in Urban Forestry Tree Care to support pruning, maintenance, and removal of trees in parks and boulevards. You will work outdoors with ISA-certified arborists and operators, focusing on safety, efficiency, and public protection.

Responsibilities include operating chippers and chainsaws, performing daily checks, and contributing to storm response and hazard assessments. A valid Alberta driver’s license and PPE compliance are required.

Qualifications

• Completion of the tenth (10th) school grade.
• Minimum of one (1) year of related experience, preferably in arboriculture or landscape construction.

Responsibilities

• Assist Arborists with tree pruning, maintenance, and removals across public spaces.
• Safely operate brush chippers to process branches and debris.
• Perform site cleanup and ensure work zones are safe for the public.
• Drive and operate trucks and trailers to transport equipment.
• Maintain and use hand and power tools such as chainsaws and pole saws.
• Participate in storm response operations to remove hazards.
