Job summary

Eurofins CDMO Alphora Inc. in Canada seeks a Technical Group Leader – Upstream to lead upstream process development from small-scale experiments to pilot-scale operations and transfer into GMP manufacturing.

You will mentor teams, oversee cell culture PD, design scale-up strategies, ensure documentation quality, and collaborate with QA/QC/DS Processing to support clinical and commercial programs.

Qualifications

• MSc or BSc in chemical/biochemical/bioprocess engineering or similar.
• Experience in upstream bioprocessing (biologics).
• Experience leading a team of technologists is required.
• Experience in SOP drafting and GMP-related runs is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead upstream activities transferring processes from PD to GMP manufacturing.
• Oversee small- and pilot-scale upstream PD experiments, including seed expansion and bioreactor operations.
• Lead technology transfer, scale-up design, experimental protocols, and scientific reporting.
