Application: Your completed application on Apply to Education must include the following:

  • Current cover letter.
  • Current resume.
  • Current Applicant Profile including contact information.
  • Complete responses to the job posting questions.

What comes next?

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by our HR Department via the email provided in Apply to Education. These candidates will be invited to attend a virtual live interview via Microsoft Teams. Interviews are typically conducted by two (2) Principals / Vice Principals.

Candidates are encouraged to provide answers to interview questions that demonstrate their skills and abilities by providing actual examples of their work.

Candidates will be shortlisted based on school preferences, specific qualifications, and/or availability. Our Elementary and Secondary Occasional Teachers' lists have a maximum number of teachers we can have, so the UCDSB must be strategic in selecting candidates for interview. We hire based on the greatest area of need, which can change regularly.

Upon successful interview, our HR Department will contact the candidate with details on the next steps, including references. The UCDSB selection process includes a review of qualifications, an interview and assessment, and reference checks. All employment offers are conditional on providing a satisfactory criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening.

References: UCDSB requires your current and most recent direct supervisors, where applicable. If you are or have been employed by another School Board, a reference from your Principal/Supervisor is required. For day-to-day casual teaching, include the length of employment and whether the position was casual or long-term. If providing a placement teacher as a reference, approval from the placement school Principal is required. The UCDSB does not accept colleagues or personal references.
