Job Summary:
This role is a UNIX Systems Administrator position with a remote option. The candidate will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and support of Unix (Red Hat, AIX, and SuSe), Azure, and Microsoft Server systems. The position requires expertise in system administration, security management, technical documentation, and user training. While primarily remote, occasional on-site attendance will be required with ample notice. The schedule offers standard business hours with limited overtime, and includes specific paid holidays around Christmas and Easter. On-call rotation is expected. Location: Canada, Remote
Responsibilities: - Unix and system administration
- Server and application maintenance
- Technical support and troubleshooting for server issues
- Creating technical documentation and user guides
- Providing user training on new systems or updates
- Ensuring system security by setting up and managing permissions
- Setting up and supporting Unix, server, and Azure systems
- Providing support for IBM Storage (including SVC) and backup systems. Required Skills & Certifications: - 3-5 years of expertise in Red Hat, SuSe, and AIX
- Proficiency in Unix (Red Hat, AIX, and SuSe) system administration
- Proficiency in Azure administration
- Ability to create technical documentation and user guides
- Experience with Microsoft Server and Azure administration from a system admin perspective.
- Related Certified Professional Designation Preferred Skills & Certifications: - 2-4 years of formal education (technical school or university)
- Experience setting up and supporting Unix, server, and Azure systems Special Considerations: - On-call rotation is expected.
- Overtime is limited but may be required outside of normal business hours, generally not exceeding 40 hours per week.
- Occasional on-site attendance may be required with at least 4 weeks' notice.
- Paid time off includes days between Christmas and New Year's, and the Monday after Easter. Scheduling: - Standard business hours with potential for limited overtime outside of normal business hours.
- On-call rotation.
