Job description

Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Medical Device Reprocessing/Linen Services and Business Processes, the incumbent:

  1. Establishes and adjusts quotas of medical and surgical supplies, instrumentation, and drugs required for ward and Operating Room (OR) trays.
  2. Maintains inventories of medical and surgical supplies (Linen Room, Linen Services, Respiratory Processing, Medical Device Reprocessing - O.R. and Medical Device Reprocessing supplies) against pre-established quotas, adjusting orders to reflect varying demands of operating rooms and wards, including receiving and topping up inventory supplies in the Medical Device Reprocessing Distribution Centre.
  3. Places stock and non-stock orders on computer to replenish inventories.
  4. Prepares information for specialty supplies that are ordered annually and bi-annually, including required quantities, pricing from three companies, and ordering supplies.
  5. Supports departmental variance analysis by analyzing expense code expenditures.
Experience
  • Two years of inventory control and supply acquisition experience in a related healthcare setting, preferably an operating room, required.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
  • Courses in Basic Accounting required.
  • Courses in inventory management and medical terminology preferred.
Special Training
  • Successful completion of a recognized Sterile Processing Technician program is an asset. Knowledge of O.R. supplies is an asset.
  • Proficient in the use of SAP & TDOC, with 2 years’ experience.
  • Must complete recognized WHMIS training and participate in relevant seminars and on-the-job training.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Proficiency in a Windows-based environment (basic level) required.
  • Effective communication skills in English, verbally and in writing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills essential.
  • Preference given to those competent in an Indigenous language and/or with knowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions, and values.
Physical Requirements
  • Extensive lifting, bending, squatting, and climbing when transferring stock.
  • Periods of computer work.

This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.
