Role Overview

The Unit Secretary plays a vital role in the Emergency department, handling clerical and receptionist duties:

  • Clerical tasks: filing, recording, physician orders, supply orders, photocopying, patient registration, appointment booking, special projects
  • Receptionist duties: greeting visitors, patients, hospital personnel, answering and directing calls, providing patient care information as authorized
Qualifications
  • Emergency Department unit secretary experience (required)
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology
  • Proficient in computer use and typing
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with MEDITECH preferred
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Good attendance and performance records
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Commitment to a safe workplace and compliance with policies and legislation
Work Schedule

Shifts of 7.5 hours: Days (7:30-15:30), Evenings (15:30-23:30), Nights (23:30-7:30), including weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Schedules may change based on operational needs.

Compensation

Range: $27.51 - $30.95 per hour
