Overview
Acts as part of a multi-disciplinary team, facilitating patient flow throughout the clinic visit in Amb Surgical Services, including Day Surgery, PAC, and GSC. This may involve booking, registration, file management, preparing a patient for a visit/examination, arranging post-visit follow-up reception, liaising with physicians' offices, and other clerical functions.
Education
- Grade 12 or equivalent required.
- Post-secondary education preferred.
Qualifications
- 2 to 5 years of recent relevant experience (within the last two years) in a fast-paced surgical clinic environment required.
- Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with members of the public.
- Professional telephone etiquette is mandatory.
- Proficiency in Powerchart, ANSOS, ESM, SAP/SRM, Word, and Excel preferred.
- Familiarity with processing diagnostic/lab requisitions as appropriate.
- Knowledge of procedures, terminology, and equipment used in Surgery Health Services to complete required paperwork.
- Knowledge of Back Awareness training.
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and follow up professionally and calmly.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Experience in patient booking coordination preferred.
- Familiarity with chart and file management.
- Good work and attendance record.
- Ability to meet and exceed departmental standards where possible.
- Willingness to work across all areas of surgical health services as required (skills & abilities considered).
- Position requires rotation to GSC, Pre-Admission Clinic, and Day Surgery.
- Adherence to legislated practices of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario is required.
- Contribute to a culture of safety by following patient and staff safety policies and procedures.
- Protect psychological health and safety of self and co-workers per MGH policies.
