What You’ll Do
  1. Transcribe and process clinician orders, schedule tests/services, and communicate information using electronic health records.
  2. Organize diagnostic and therapeutic services, coordinate interrelated appointments, and communicate instructions to patients in various formats.
  3. Gather and transport patient information, prepare documents for clinical teams and patients.
  4. Perform receptionist duties including greeting, registration, wayfinding, answering calls, and relaying messages.
  5. Support staff onboarding and orientation, including demonstrating procedures and supporting student practicums.
Qualifications
What you bring
  • Grade 12, medical terminology, graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk Program, plus one year of recent related experience or equivalent.
  • Commitment to learning about Indigenous-specific racism, dismantling systems of oppression, and addressing broader racism. Willingness to share learning to foster a motivating and inspiring culture.
  • Knowledge of social, economic, and political realities affecting Indigenous peoples and equity groups, understanding social determinants of health, and legislative obligations like TRC Calls to Action, UNDRIP, and others.
Core Competencies
  • Understanding of Indigenous-specific and systemic racism, with initiatives to promote safety and belonging rooted in Indigenous Cultural Safety.
  • Awareness of settler colonialism impacts and ability to address anti-racism, Indigenous rights, and legislative commitments.
You Have
  • Effective communication skills, organizational ability, physical capability, keyboarding skills (40 w.p.m.), and proficiency with computer applications.
  • Knowledge of historic and ongoing impacts of colonialism and racism on Indigenous Peoples, and a commitment to eradicating discrimination and biases.
