Reporting to the Manager of the Emergency Department, the Unit Clerk will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. Additionally, you will perform a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
BCLS-HCP required or related experience required. Knowledge of computer programs including Connect Care, Microsoft Office/Excel, Netcare, iRequest, ePeople, and ESP. Strong and proven analytical skills for auditing of patient data ensuring valid data source. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required. Courteous and pleasant telephone manners required. Proven organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work under pressure with minimal supervision required. Proven reliability and dependability required.
Previous Emergency Department experience.
