Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Nurse Aide to join our healthcare team.

The Nurse's Aide will provide essential support to patients in various healthcare settings, assisting with daily living activities and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment.

This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  1. Answer call signals; supply and empty bed pans; bathe, dress and groom patients; serve meal trays, feed or assist in feeding of patients and assist patients with menu selection.
  2. Weigh, lift, turn, and position patients; shave patients prior to operations; supervise patients' exercise routines, set up and provide leisure activities for patients, accompany patients on outside recreational activities and perform other duties related to patient care and comfort.
  3. Take patients' blood pressure, temperature and pulse; report or record fluid intake and output; observe or monitor patients' status and document patient care on charts; collect specimens such as urine, faeces or sputum; administer suppositories, colonic irrigations and enemas and perform other procedures as directed by nursing and hospital staff.
  4. Administer, in emergency situations, first aid to injured or ill individuals within the scope of competencies.
  5. Carry messages, reports, requisitions and specimens between departments.
  6. Maintain inventory of supplies.
  7. May perform maintenance tasks such as assisting with the set-up and maintenance of traction equipment, cleaning or sterilizing equipment, maintaining and repairing equipment, and assembling, setting-up and operating job-related equipment.
  8. Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating.
  9. Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes to nursing staff.
  10. Provide medication administration as directed by nursing staff.
  11. Maintain patient records and update information in computerized systems.
  12. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  13. Ensure cleanliness and safety of patient areas, including changing linens and cleaning equipment.
  14. Support patients with mobility needs, including transferring and repositioning them safely.
  15. Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines within the healthcare facility.
Requirements
  1. Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  2. Secondary school education and on-the-job training, private institutional program, or a college nursing orderly program.
  3. Completion of specialized courses such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid.
  4. Previous experience in acute care settings is preferred but not required.
  5. Proficiency in computer operation, including Microsoft Outlook and Word for documentation purposes.
  6. Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively within a busy environment.
  7. Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and their families.
  8. Knowledge of medication administration protocols is advantageous.
