Underwriting & Transaction Manager

We are seeking for an experienced Underwriting & Commercial Real Estate Transaction Manager who will be reporting to the Senior Management & Origination Team while being responsible for providing analytical thinking and solutions for VA Capital and Soliman Corporation. VA Capital is a commercial mortgage brokerage firm in Quebec, while Soliman Corporation is a private equity firm focused on commercial real estate in the US. We are located 321 De La Commune Street West, Montreal, QC. This role requires a full-time presence at the VA Capital office.

Responsibilities :

• On a daily basis, help overseeing Commercial Real Estate Brokers to meet pipeline goals and professional development objectives in order to support business development, targets, and maintain VA Capital's reputation for reliable and competent service.
• Recruiting and building a highly motivated team, assessing individual and team performances, addressing performance-related issues, launching corrective actions, managing recognition, and promotion.
• Create and maintain various management reports on the productivity and efficiency of the underwriting team and implement action plans to support underwriters while ensuring sound cost management of internal and external resources used in the underwriting process clients.
• Ensure that underwriters consistently provide prompt and attentive service to related parties.
• Offer clients and the underwriting team senior technical advices.
• Take part in the improvement of underwriting guidelines and protocols alongside the senior management group.
• Manage communication with clients and demonstrate discretion on highly sensitive information.
• Oversee and assist commercial real estate transactions and closings, ensuring adherence to business guidelines and industry standards on a timely fashion.

Ideal Candidate :

• Be a detail-oriented yet highly responsive multi-tasker who loves a good challenge;
• Should possess good time management skills and self discipline, respect established deadlines, and communicate priorities and expectations for various team members;
• Must demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality and diplomacy when handling information of a sensitive and confidential nature;
• Should work independently and / or with Internal teams, deliver client-ready work, and follow through on assignments with minimal direction;
• Must have good judgment, and a strong customer support orientation, demonstrate a professional demeanor, and have the ability to maintain confidential information.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or another relevant field;
• Minimum 3 years of experience in underwriting & Commercial Real Estate transactions;
• Strong understanding and proficiency in Microsoft365;
• Fluency in English and French;
