Zurich Canada is currently looking for an Underwriting Specialist, MGA, Programs. As a Property and Casualty Subject Matter expert, you will provide technical underwriting guidance to Program and MGA Underwriters to support our business plan for profitable growth nationally.

Reporting to the Head of Programs & MGA, you will partner with leaders and underwriters to implement and monitor strategic initiatives to grow our portfolio and achieve business objectives. You will communicate underwriting strategies, including guidelines, appetite, product, pricing, and processes, across all regions.

What you will do

1. Provide expert underwriting guidance to support risk selection and business growth.
2. Ensure adherence to underwriting rules and communicate updates effectively.
3. Manage underwriting referrals demonstrating expertise in Property & Casualty perils.
4. Identify trends to support improvements and action plans.
5. Implement and communicate underwriting strategy and guidelines.
6. Assess and adjust risk appetite and product offerings as needed.
7. Research and analyze data to inform process, policy, and product development.
8. Assist in drafting Delegation of Authority Guidelines.
9. Support onboarding of new opportunities through technical reviews and due diligence.
10. Lead technical presentations and support business review processes.
11. Act as subject matter expert on wordings, coverages, and guidelines.
12. Develop training plans for underwriters in collaboration with stakeholders.
13. Coordinate translation projects, budgets, and queries.
14. Serve as the technical contact for the BU and communicate with TUW teams.
15. Operationalize Zurich policies into guidelines and best practices.
16. Address technical queries from internal and external customers.
17. Lead audit and due diligence plans and liaise with compliance teams.
18. Contribute to action plans and participate in regulatory reviews.
19. Ensure successful implementation of technical initiatives and propose policy modifications as needed.
20. Investigate and recommend high-quality technical solutions.

Job Qualifications

What you bring to the table

• Bachelor's Degree and 8+ years in property underwriting OR High School Diploma and 10+ years in property underwriting
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven project leadership ability
• Experience with compliance and regulatory requirements
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with multi-tasking skills
• FCIP or equivalent designation
