Overview

Northbridge Underwriters customize solutions for our commercial clients when they need insurance products. They work closely with our extensive broker network to develop unique solutions for all classes of risk while managing increasingly complex accounts in accordance with guidelines and business objectives.

The Underwriting Specialist is responsible for underwriting and servicing complex accounts, ensuring adherence to data quality standards and service level agreements. They maintain strong relationships with brokers through regular communication and meetings. Working collaboratively, there are opportunities to coach and mentor junior colleagues and to develop skills further by learning from experienced underwriters.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite renewal rates, evaluate risks, and negotiate proper rates
• Engage in sales and negotiation activities
• Develop solutions-oriented approaches
• Build and maintain professional relationships with brokers and clients
• Mentor and coach junior underwriters

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Commercial Underwriting experience in the mid-market segment
• Completed or pursuing CIP or FCIP designations (asset)
• Strong customer service skills
• Team-oriented mentality
