As a key member of our Underwriting Operations Team, you will provide underwriting support to our Underwriters. You will be accountable for the management of underwriting documentation, transaction processing, collaborate with the underwriting team on a day-to-day basis, and pro-actively and effectively communicate with our brokers to ensure that all information is accurate, complete and up to date with respect to the underwriting process and Everest issued policy documents.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

NEW BUSINESS, RENEWALS AND ENDORSEMENTS

  1. Handle daily underwriting processing of accounts through Everest’s policy quote and issuance system with greater focus on Program business
  2. Management of bordereaux intake and processing during new business and renewal cycles; gather and prepare program renewals or individual renewal files as needed
  3. Coordinate loss runs with Claims and provide loss runs to brokers if required
  4. Communicate directly with broker for renewal information (updated exposure info / updated application, etc.) as assigned or directed by Underwriter
  5. Process and issue all new, renewal and endorsement policy documents and deal with brokers as needed on documentation queries
  6. Prepare, compile and base rate new and renewal files for underwriters

OTHER DUTIES AS NEEDED:

  1. Review and prep referrals to underwriters as needed and issue certificates of insurance
  2. Issue registered letters of cancellation / reinstatement
  3. Generate and prepare business reports as directed which may involve some analysis
  4. Completion of M&S Insurance to Value calculators
  5. Ordering of loss control reports per guidelines and as directed by Underwriter
  6. Review of property valuation data as needed
  7. Special projects and other duties or responsibilities as assigned
  8. Work on underwriting bordereaux, CAT exposures, etc.
  9. Work on premium reconciliation and adjustments with underwriters, brokers and finance as needed

SKILLS REQUIREMENT AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. 1 to 3 years of insurance experience preferably in Programs business and/or as a Commercial underwriting assistant with another insurer or MGA
  2. Knowledge of commercial casualty and property insurance preferred
  3. Strong oral and written communication, analytical and computer skills – Proficient in Excel and working with bordereaux
  4. Ability to build and maintain excellent relations with brokers and provide superior service
  5. Team oriented and ability to work effectively with peers
  6. Quick learner and dedication to self-improvement and development is important
  7. Strong time management and prioritization skills to meet daily demand and deadlines to fulfill all service requirements
  8. CIP designation or actively working towards completion of CIP courses
  9. Bilingualism (French and English) a requirement
  10. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is mandatory – Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.
