Job summary

BrokerLink is seeking an Underwriting Assistant, Commercial Lines, to join our growing team. You will handle endorsements and cancellations, support underwriters with complex policies, and assist brokers with underwriting and rating decisions.

Qualifications

  • Post‑Secondary education in insurance, business or a related field is an asset
  • 2 years of relevant experience in insurance, business or a related field is preferred
  • Strong typing skills to process daily work
  • Highly organized to manage workflow efficiently without continuous supervision
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Initiative and ability to work under pressure
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products and computer tools
  • Team player
  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Handle insurance policy endorsements and cancellations.
  • Answer straightforward inquiries from brokers promptly and courteously.
  • Assist Underwriters with the administration of complex policies.
  • Apply underwriting strategies in accordance with company guidelines and personal underwriting authority limits.
  • Support brokers regarding underwriting and rating policies.
  • Work closely to develop and maintain positive business partnerships with brokers and co‑workers.
  • Use the computer system for policy inquiry, electronic filing, underwriting and rating transactions.
  • Make recommendations to improve the department and increase its efficiency.

Salary Range (but Not Limited To)

47,100 - 57,500

Incentive plan

Annual bonus: 5% target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to 200% (subject to personal and company performance)

Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, location etc. The salary range presented below is based on a 35‑hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.
