Canada Life is seeking an Underwriting Analyst, Small Group Renewal to support the Group Underwriting team within Workplace Benefits and Retirement. The role assists with renewals, financial reports and rate calculations for employer benefit plans, and is available in London or Winnipeg.

Qualifications

  • Post secondary education or equivalent with relevant work experience.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency and ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Desire to pursue GB Associate or CEBS designations.
  • Ability to obtain Government of Canada Reliability Status Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Review employee data for accuracy before importing into internal tools.
  • Calculate manual rates for renewals and costing requests.
  • Review premiums, claims, rates and reserves for accuracy.
  • Identify incorrect data and coordinate with partner teams to correct it.
  • Prepare renewal reviews, rate exhibits and supporting documents.
  • Create financial reports for plan sponsors.
  • Support nonstandard reporting requests and financial estimates.
  • Help prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Maintain accurate premium information within billing systems.

Underwriting Analyst, Small Group Renewal is a permanent full time role with Canada Life that supports the Group Underwriting team within the Workplace Benefits and Retirement division. The position helps prepare renewals, financial reports and rate calculations for employer benefit plans.

  • Be curious and enjoy working with mathematics.

  • Be highly skilled in Microsoft Excel and learn new systems quickly.
  • Maintain a strong customer first approach.
  • Be willing to complete the Group Benefits Associate designation or the Certified
  • Employee Benefit Specialist designation through the CEBS program.
  • Candidates are eligible to obtain Government of Canada Reliability Status Security Clearance.
