Job summary

Trisura in Downtown Toronto is seeking a highly skilled Underwriter/Senior Underwriter for our Professional Solutions team. The role blends underwriting with business development, including pricing, risk assessment, broker relationships and growth initiatives.

You will collaborate across claims, actuarial, product development and marketing to expand our market presence while mentoring junior underwriters. Hybrid work in downtown Toronto with opportunities for professional advancement.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' experience underwriting specialty lines (E&O/Cyber/Technology).
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in communication, business, or insurance.
• Strong broker and market relationships with excellent communication.
• Experience in business development and marketing within insurance.

UNDERWRITER, PROFESSIONAL SOLUTIONS

TORONTO

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Underwriter / Senior Underwriter to join our Professional Solutions department. This role is a blend of underwriting and business development responsibilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating, pricing, and underwriting risks while also actively promoting our products, strengthening broker relationships, and driving growth in the Professional Solutions portfolio.

Accountabilities include:

• Assess, price, and underwrite new and renewal business within delegated authority.
• Analyze financial, legal, and operational information to evaluate risk profiles.
• Structure tailored coverage solutions that meet client and broker needs.
• Ensure underwriting practices comply with company standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with our broker partners and other stakeholders.
• Promote our products through meetings, presentations, and industry events.
• Identify new business opportunities and develop strategies to expand market presence.
• Represent the company as a subject matter expert within the marketplace.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior underwriters and team members.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with claims, actuarial, product development, and marketing teams.
• Learn new product lines and coverages as they are developed.

• Maintain a thorough understanding of relevant industry trends and their impact on products offered

Qualifications:

• 2+ years’ experience underwriting specialty lines (E&O/Cyber/Technology preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree or post-secondary education in communication, business, or insurance preferred.
• Strong broker and market relationships, with excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Experience in business development and marketing within the insurance industry.

Location:

• Downtown Toronto – Hybrid

Salary:

• The expected salary in this position is within the range of $70,000 - $90,000

This salary range reflects the expected base compensation for the role across Canada. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and scope of responsibilities. Trisura Group provides this range in good faith in accordance with applicable legislation.
