As the Underwriter, Personal Lines, you will be responsible for supporting the organizations goals in achieving profitability, client engagement and co-operative experience. You will provide professional expertise and support to stakeholders, while managing risks for our clients and the organization through the underwriting of the Home and Auto product lines.

How you will create impact :

  • Supporting Advisors and front-line staff to identify attractive risk segments and develop target market strategies.
  • Working with cross functional teams, leveraging information and technical expertise to resolve outcome-oriented business solutions.
  • Collaborating with multiple partner groups to underwrite policies, using a wide variety of communication channels, to provide technical underwriting solutions and coverage information, in a fast paced, highly responsive and customer centric environment.
  • Analyzing, evaluating and negotiating terms and conditions for renewals, new business, and policy changes within signed authority levels and underwriting rules and guidelines.
  • Utilizing tools and technology to identify market trends and risk appetite for various product offerings.

  • To join our team :

  • You have a minimum of 2 years experience in Personal Lines and Property and Casualty underwriting.
  • You have a post-secondary diploma in a related discipline.
  • You have or are actively pursuing the Chartered Insurance Professional designation (CIP).
  • You have working knowledge of PC based applications, including experience in MS Word, Excel and Access.
  • You have a strong understanding of personal lines underwriting practices, insurance products, policy wordings, endorsements, manuals, tools, systems and applications.
  • Proficiency in both English and French is essential to the main duties in this role, including servicing and communicating primarily with majority anglophone and francophone clients, groups, and teams. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.
  • What you need to know :

  • This role supports certain tasks in a contact center environment where a high level of audio and visual concentration is required for extended periods of time.
  • Rotational shifts outside of standard business hours, Monday through Friday will be required.
