Intact Specialty Solutions in Canada’s insurance market seeks an Underwriter, Specialty Solutions. Junior to Senior levels may apply. Analyze quotes, renewals and policy changes, and support brokers in underwriting and rating.

You’ll rate new business and renewals, handle endorsements, and help expand the department. We offer a hybrid work model; candidates should have a university degree or equivalent, 1+ year insurance experience, and strong Excel/communication skills.

Qualifications

• University degree/College diploma or equivalent education and experience.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in Insurance.
• CIP designation or working towards it.
• Strong Excel skills and data analysis mindset.
• Ability to develop broker relationships and communicate clearly.

Responsabilités

• Analyze requests for quotes, renewals and policy changes.
• Support brokers regarding underwriting and rating policies.
• Use negotiating skills to maintain broker relationships.
• Participate in broker visits, industry functions and marketing events.
• Provide ongoing support to expand the department and suggest improvements.
• Rate and prepare quotes for new business and renewals.
• Handle policy transactions including renewals, endorsements and cancellations.
• Generate letters and memos to brokers from the system.
• Support team members across Specialty Solutions and other divisions.

Salary range (but not limited to)

74,800 - 91,400

Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance)

Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35‑hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.

We’re looking for an Underwriter, Specialty Solutions, to join our growing team!

Based on the experience, skills and qualifications of the selected candidates, we are open to different job level: Junior, intermediate or Senior Underwriter.

What you’ll do here:

• Analyze requests for quotes, renewals and policy changes, and recommend solutions
• Support brokers regarding underwriting and rating policies
• Use negotiating skills to maintain healthy relationships within and outside the company
• Participate in broker visits, industry functions and marketing events
• Provide ongoing support in expanding the department, and make recommendations for process improvements
• Rate and prepare quotes for new business and renewals
• Handle policy transactions including renewals, endorsements and cancellations.
• As directed, generate letters and memos to brokers from the system.
• Support team members within Specialty Solutions as well as other divisions at Intact

What you bring to the table:

• University degree/College diploma or any combination of equivalent education and experience
• Minimum 1 years of relevant experience in Insurance
• Strong knowledge in Excel is an asset
• Analytical, self‑motivated and strive to deliver at a high standard
• Initiative and ability to work under pressure
• Strong team player, with outstanding collaboration and communication skills
• Can develop and maintain excellent relationships with brokers
• Interested in and stay up to date on business trends or other developments impacting our industry
• CIP designation or working towards it
• No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.

Please note that the posted salary range applies to the Intermediate role. However, we also encourage Junior and Senior Underwriter candidates to apply, as we are open to considering profiles at all three levels.
