Position: Underwriter, ITG level 13/14

Compensation Details :

  • Underwriter 13: Salaries typically range from $50,936 to $67,915 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.
  • Underwriter 14: Salaries typically range from $57,048 to $76,065 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.

Location:

  • Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week. (subject to change)
  • This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs located in Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, or Vancouver.
  • Relocation assistance is available for candidates who meet the eligibility criteria.

Team Overview:

The International Trade Guarantee (ITG) Team has an opportunity for an enthusiastic individual who works well in a team environment, interacting with colleagues, partners and clients on a regular basis. The ideal candidate will support the timely delivery of ITG solutions that meet customer needs.

Such support will cover a wide range of underwriting functions and team development activities, including but not limited to: screening requests, interacting with customers, partners and colleagues,becoming proficient using various underwriting related systems, reviewing and gathering information in support of the underwriting process, analyzing and communicating risks, recommending and pricing EDC support reflective of these risks, preparing and checking the accuracy of policy documentation, contributing towards special projects, and providing ongoing support of various team initiatives and activities.

We are currently recruiting for a permanent role. This poster may also be used to fulfil future hiring needs (both contract & permanent) over the next 12 months.

What you will be doing:

  • Assists in the delivery of ITGsolutions (including both new applications and endorsements/amendments) that meet the specific needs of customers
  • Determine eligibility of applicants for ITGsupport
  • Recommends support of request based on appropriate level of analysis
  • Generation of policy/guarantee/endorsement/amendment documents
  • Communicating with and Sending documentation to external customers
  • Exercises discipline regarding data integrity by inputting datain a timely manner, ensuring that all information is complete in all relevant current and future systems
  • Reviews Requests for Cover and Letters of Guarantee
  • Interacts with advisory and internal support groups
  • Provides professional and quality information to customers, partners and other stakeholders
  • Manages various stages of the transactionprocess by keeping team members, customer and partners informed.
  • Manages workload to provide realistic time estimates for completion and ensuring deadlines are met
  • Interacts with key external partners in order to ensure timely completion of requests

Skills & Competencies

  • Understanding of EDC’s credit risk standards and practices, as well as ITGpolicies, guidelines and Risk Factors
  • Ability to work in a team environment and in collaboration with others as part of a team
  • Ability to multi-task and to prioritize workload and display a strong sense of urgency when handling priority requests
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communications skills
  • Taking initiative, identifying opportunities for improvement and solving problems

What we are looking for:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or equivalent combination of education and related work experience
  • 0-1 years (Underwriter 13) or 1 -2 years (Underwriter 14) of financial services experience

What will make you stand out:

  • Basic transactional and customer service experience at a commercial financial institution
  • Administrative experience at a commercial financial institution
  • Basic understanding of financial statements and analysis
  • Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)
