Position: Summer Student

Location: Surrey Plant - 11105 Bridge Road Surrey, BC V3V 3V2 and Port Kells Warehouse

Duration: May 1st to August 29th, 2025 (flexible)

Hours of work: Monday to Friday; 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Reports to: Rebal Abaza, Joint Treatment Manager

Position type: hourly

Job Summary:

Working in a team environment, employees are expected to work safely and efficiently while complying with all plant safety programs. The summer student will provide vacation relief and work on special projects at both the Surrey plant and Port Kells warehouse. Under the guidance of the plant or warehouse Supervisor, the Summer Student will perform various duties to support operations and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the crew in the rail car unloading area by debagging the wallboard for distribution and preparing railcars for return once unloaded.
  2. Perform maintenance duties such as painting and small housekeeping tasks, including Project Home tasks.
  3. Promote and enforce safety among crew members, always exercising personal safety.
  4. Work independently with minimal supervision when required.

Qualifications:

  1. High School diploma and currently enrolled or returning to post-secondary school in the fall.
  2. Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  3. Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  4. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  5. Must be a people-oriented and results-driven individual who emphasizes safety and quality in all aspects of the daily work environment.
  6. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  7. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

Working Conditions:

  1. Standing 75% of the time.
