We have an exciting opportunity for an Underwriter to join our Cyber underwriting team in a rapidly growing and dynamic segment. The individual will be responsible for servicing a renewal book and producing new business through exceptional underwriting practices throughout Canada.

What will your essential responsibilities include?
  1. Underwriter I will be responsible for executing a business plan to expand the existing Canadian Cyber portfolio, aligning within the overall Cyber business strategy, by underwriting both new and renewal Canadian cyber business.
  2. Assist in achieving profitable premium and rate goals, working with actuarial and claims and successfully delivering results consistent with financial plan.
  3. Collaborate across business units and functions to leverage existing resources to underwrite, manage and service a cyber and technology renewal book and produce new business in accordance with the Cyber underwriting unit goals.
  4. Exercise discretion and independent judgment in the analysis and evaluation of risk.
  5. Participate in roundtable discussions on risk assessment.
  6. Negotiate with producers within the limits of delegated authority and in accordance with established underwriting standards to achieve profit objectives.
  7. Build and enhance relationships with assigned brokers and clients to identify and establish new distribution relationships.
  8. Maintain expertise with the products, services, priorities and target markets to more effectively enable clients to uncover hidden cyber risks.
  9. Promote the company's expertise by participating in industry conferences and events.
  10. Maintain compliance with all internal and external underwriting guidelines and legal requirements.

You will report to the Underwriting Manager, Professional Liability & Cyber, Canada.

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
Required Skills and Abilities:
  1. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  2. Moderate years of Cyber and Technology underwriting experience or Underwriting experience in another area of expertise with a strong conceptual comprehension of data security, privacy, cyber and information risk.

  1. Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations.
  2. Excellent collaborative skills in a fast-paced team-centric environment.
