About The Role

At Intact Public Entities, we provide municipal and community service organizations with comprehensive insurance programs, supporting their success and resilience. As an Underwriter, you will analyze requests, support brokers, rate policies, and handle policy transactions, contributing to our mission of protecting community organizations.

What You’ll Do Here
  • Analyze requests for quotes, renewals, and policy changes, and recommend solutions
  • Support brokers regarding underwriting and rating policies
  • Use negotiating skills to maintain relationships within and outside the company
  • Participate in broker visits, industry functions, and marketing events
  • Provide support in expanding the department and suggest process improvements
  • Rate and prepare quotes for new business and renewals
  • Handle policy transactions including renewals, endorsements, and cancellations
  • Generate letters and memos to brokers from the system as directed
What You Bring To The Table
  • University degree/College diploma or equivalent education and experience
  • 1-3 years of P&C underwriting experience
  • Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation is an asset
  • Analytical, self-motivated, and committed to high standards
  • Ability to work well under pressure and demonstrate initiative
  • Excellent customer service, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Strong team player with collaboration and communication skills
  • Interest in industry trends and developments
  • Proficiency in Excel is an asset
  • No Canadian work experience required, but must be eligible to work in Canada
