Qualifications

  • 1 year in an Underwriting position preferably with Commercial Insurance.
  • Professional communication etiquette both written and verbal.
  • Adept in retrieving customer data efficiently.
  • Involvement in industry related associations and your community.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with inspection ordering, inspection review, and recommendation processes.
  • Analyze and update internal policy uploads between applications.
  • Support with certificate checks on new business issued.
  • Gather and assess risk information for eligibility on general insurance.
  • Assist in development and maintenance of programs.
  • Communicate regarding new policy issuance, changes, renewals, and cancellations.
  • Advise and validate coverage based on policy terms.
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports to Insurers.
  • Support internal departments with policy interpretation and technical advice.
  • Assist with market research to ensure competitive premiums and coverage.

COMMERCIAL LINES UNDERWRITER

In this role you will support Westerns Account Executives by liaising with insurance specialists for accurate risk assessment mitigation and acceptance for new policies. You will be accountable for collaborating with your team members to maintain service standards and improve procedures for the various insurance products we sell.

Here is what a typical day looks like

  • Assist with inspection ordering inspection review and recommendation processes
  • Analyze and update internal policy uploads between two internal applications
  • Supporting with certificate checks on all new business issued
  • Gather and assess risk information to determine eligibility on risk for all general insurance
  • Assist in development of new programs and maintain current programs
  • Communicate with Westerns Account Executives regarding new policy issuance changes renewals and cancellations
  • Advise interpret and validate coverage based on policy terms
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports to Insurers
  • Support in updating internal monthly reports
  • Process policy changes and renewals
  • Support internal departments and branches with policy interpretation and technical advice
  • Assist with industry market research to ensure premiums and coverage are competitive

The value you bring
