Position: Welder

Work Location: Sudbury Area (underground mine setting)

The primary role of the Welder is to perform tasks related to fabrication, repairs and maintenance of mining equipment and installations.

The following is a list of duties relating to this position. These may be adjusted by your supervisor when required by the project. Your safety will always be our priority with all assigned tasks:

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow all established policies, procedures, and best practices as well as industry specific regulations
  • Always be physically and mentally fit for work
  • Produce quality work safely and efficiently
  • Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
  • Set up components for welding according to specifications
  • Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
  • Weld components using welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead)
  • Inspect welded surfaces and structure for quality
  • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
  • The disassembly, repair and overhaul of heavy equipment implements such as buckets, clams, blades, truck trays as well as other associated tasks
  • Capable of successfully completing all skill tests required to demonstrate quality welding and fabrication skills as requested by the operation
Qualifications and Skills
  • Minimum Education: Trade Certification
  • Minimum Experience: 3 years’ experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions
  • Positive attitude with the ability to work collaboratively within a team
